Fly fishing tips...

find fly fishing very tough. Will fky fish in Maine and Kentucky this year and need tips.

we def. need more fly fishing people on this site. will try to get some. might take time. you should also be more specific on what you find hard about fly fishing.

What type of fish do you target?

The ultimate goal of fly fishing is to imitate a fly or other insect so closely that it fools the trout into thinking that it’s next meal is being served. In order to do this you must “present” the fly in such a way as to not spook the trout. You do this by either “dead drifting” the fly or with some movement to make the fly look like it is swimming or fleeing. No matter which method you’re using, you must make your imitation look like the other flies that are drifting along with it. Pracice that and you'll be on your way!!

When I first started fly fishing I could stand in one spot for hours and not feel any ill effects from it. Of course I was just getting started back then and have learned many things since.

First of all, you shouldn't be standing in one spot for hours in the first place. If the fish aren't biting, move on. Seems simple, but when I was younger my thinking was quite different. I'd often find myself saying things like "This is such a beautiful hole. There just has to be something in here." I'm much older and much wiser now and rarely will stand in one spot more than 20 minutes. Continuously moving up or down stream has proven to be much more effective.
