Has anyone every fished off the North Shore? Wondering what kind of fish you can catch from beach/shore in Gloucester?

Late May through October the stripers and blues can show up all along Gloucester. First light is always best with a top water to start and then a jig to get down after the sun's up. The mouth of the harbor and any of the good rocks along 127 will get you into position. Late July and August are prime live eel time after sunset. Well worth the slime and effort to throw some snakes. I was slow to convert but now a big fan of the eel.

Thanks for the tip for fishing at sunrise. We will have to give that a try this spring summer. In regards to the eel comment, do you mean you are fishing for eels or using for bait. I think either way, I will pass, but just curious.

Yes, eel as bait. 6/0 circle hook through the lips/eye socket. No weight needed around the rocks. 40lb. leader. Simple and massively effective. Bring a towel to grab them out of the bucket (bring ice for the bucket - keeps them mellow). If there's something big swimming in your area, you'll get a hook up.
